The Smokey Eye look is a popular look amazing celebrities and models in a fashion magazine. It looks bold and fierce. As stunning as it may look, it may seem like it can be something difficult to duplicate. We are here to tell you it is not. You can achieve this look yourself by following these 8 steps.
Step 1: Use Primer - This is an Important Step!
Ladies - you must start with primer all over the lid. This will help your eyeshadow stay on longer and help prevent it from smudging everywhere. Gently pat primer on your eyelid and underneath your eye.
Step 2: Concealer PLUS Powder
Having dark circles under your eye is not sexy and can ruin this look. To help minimize or eliminate these dark circles, apply thick concealer because it won’t crease as much. Then add some translucent powder underneath your eyes. It will catch all the loose particles of your eyeshadow. When you are done applying your dramatic eyeshadow, then gently wipe the powder off with a tissue.
Step 3: Dark and Dramatic Eyeshadow
Select the darkest eyeshadow from your palette. Then you will blend it from your eyelashes to the crease of your eye. Use a small angled brush to apply eyeshadow along the lower lash line. The best part of this step is that you don’t have to use black. You can easily swap black for a gray or plum or chocolate brown color. This will make your look a bit more fun and mysterious.
Step 4: Smudge and Blend Away
A smokey eye shouldn’t look harsh. Don’t forget to blend out your eyeshadow. Your eyeshadow should be softly blended on the outer edges. Use a smudge brush or Q-Tip to help you smudge your shadow from your crease and lower lashline.
Step 5: Eyeliner Time
Define your eye by applying some creamy black eyeliner. Drag your eyeliner pencil along your top and lower lash lines. Make sure not to have any flesh tone showing. This will make your look not looked so polish.
Step 6: Highlight, Highlight
To open up your eye a bit from all the intense and dark eyeshadow, blend some shimmery highlighter along your brow line and the “V” inner corner of your eye. We recommend for your fair and medium toned ladies and gentlemen to use a more pearl hue. If you have a darker complexion then use a more champagne hue.
Step 7: Curl Those Lashes!
Use an eyelash curler to gentle curl your lashes. This step will help make your eyes pop! Don’t skip this step.
Step 8: Mascara
No smokey eye is complete without full, long and thick eyelashes. Apply as much mascara as you like! This is your look after all!
